It seems like Texas and either Florida or Alabama have been written into the national championship game since August. With three weeks left before the regular season ends and bowl season begins, now is the time those teams will show why they deserved to be glorified.

With six bowl-eligible teams, the Pac-10 is the best conference in college football and sitting at the throne is Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh. And to think, some people thought the $60,000 private bathroom the university built its coach over the summer was a bad idea.

This week, in what would have previously been a sign of the apocalypse, a USC football coach said of Stanford: "We'll just do the best we can, struggle our way through it and hope to slow them down some."

The way the schedule worked Saturday night, every other Pac-10 team besides Washington State was off or done playing in time to watch the Oregon-USC game. And just imagine how much those coaches and players enjoyed seeing the Trojans, the bullies of the conference, get run around in circles by the Ducks.

The days of putting Florida and Tim Tebow first on your list and first in your hearts ended Saturday.

In an ugly weekend, the Gators fumbled four times and barely got by Arkansas on Saturday. Tebow was sacked six times and ran 27 times for 69 yards.

"I don't think we're on the same planet as we were last year," Florida coach Urban Meyer said.

Southern California dropped to 12th in the national rankings Sunday after losing to Washington 16-13 on Saturday in Seattle. The Trojans have lost to an unranked team the past four seasons, and one could argue that's the only reason they haven't won four consecutive national titles.

The fantasy football season came to an end Monday night for all but a deranged few of us.
