Former President Donald Trump appears confident he will beat whoever the Democrats put up against him in the 2024 race after President Joe Biden announced he would not seek reelection.

"Crooked Joe Biden was not fit to run for President, and is certainly not fit to serve - And never was!" Trump said on Truth Social.

Trump went on to criticize President Biden for his handling of immigration, claiming the country is worst off under the current president.

"We will suffer greatly because of his presidency, but we will remedy the damage he has done very quickly. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!" Trump said.

Following dozens of calls from congressional Democrats and major party donors to get out of the race, President Biden announced Sunday that he would step aside.

"I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term," Biden said in a statement.

It was not immediately clear who might replace President Biden as a leading Democratic candidate. However, the president announced he is endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris as the potential nominee.
