Michigan is reportedly cracking down on medical marijuana businesses that are operating illegally.
The Detroit Free Press reports officials delivered cease-and-desist letters to 40 businesses across the state and are preparing to hand out hundreds more.
Michigan hasn't legalized recreational marijuana, but a law passed in 2016 lets communities pass local ordinances allowing medical marijuana businesses to operate — with the proper licensing.
State officials reportedly didn't confiscate any marijuana during their visits. The Free Press reports the letters told facilities to shut down or lose their chance of ever getting a license from the state.
