Democratic lawmakers are urging the Senate Judiciary Committee to delay a vote on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

The push comes after a woman publicly came forward with sexual assault allegations against him.

In a letter, all 10 Democratic senators on the committee asked committee chairman Chuck Grassley to delay Thursday's vote until questions about Kavanaugh's "record, truthfulness, and character" are answered. The letter also calls for a thorough FBI investigation into the claims.

Kavanaugh has denied the allegations and said in a new statement Monday that he's willing to speak to the committee to "defend [his] integrity."

Sen. Grassley said in a statement that he's working "diligently to get to the bottom of these claims." He says he's working to schedule calls with Kavanaugh and his accuser.

Some Republican committee members have also called for the vote to be postponed.
