When she was sworn in in 2013, then-U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power set a goal: meet one-on-one with each of the U.N. member countries' ambassadors. During her three and a half years at the U.N., Ambassador Power met with the ambassadors of every member nation except North Korea. As Power writes in her new memoir, "The Education of an Idealist," 50 of the 191 ambassadors with whom she met said they had never been visited by a U.S. permanent representative.
Newsy Tonight host Lauren Stephenson asked Power why she undertook the effort, why the ambassador is calling for increased investment in diplomacy and how she'd reset relations with U.S. allies.
