A top U.S. diplomat for North Korea is retiring at the end of this week.

Joseph Yun's last day at the State Department will be Friday. He told news outlets Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is sorry to see him go.

Yun's decision comes as North Korea hinted it might be willing to cooperate with the U.S.  South Korean President Moon Jae-in said Sunday that North Korea may be open to talks.

As Newsy previously reported, the White House said it will see if North Korea's apparent willingness to meet "represents the first steps along the path to denuclearization."
