A former Supreme Court justice says he wants to get rid of the Second Amendment.

John Paul Stevens said in an op-ed for The New York Times a repeal "would do more to weaken the N.R.A.'s ability to stymie legislative debate and block constructive gun control legislation than any other available option."

And he said the thousands of protesters who participated in the March for Our Lives demonstrations across the country "demand our respect."

The rallies were organized in response to last month's deadly shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida.

Stevens retired from the Supreme Court in 2010. He had previously called for changes to the Second Amendment that would allow for gun control.
