Many workers in Missouri and Arkansas will soon be getting a raise.
On Tuesday, voters in both states approved ballot initiatives to raise the minimum wage.
Missouri will gradually increase its minimum wage from $7.85 an hour to $12 an hour by 2023. And Arkansas' current minimum wage of $8.50 an hour will go up to $11 an hour by 2021.
As The Washington Post notes, this a big win for liberals in two red states that back President Donald Trump.
But while many celebrated the decision, experts say upping the minimum wage too much could lead to job losses as employers struggle to pay their workers.
The wage hikes will reportedly affect more than 900,000 people across both Missouri and Arkansas.
