Tennessee Republican Marsha Blackburn has won a spot in the U.S. Senate.
Blackburn was running against Democrat Phil Bredesen, a former Volunteer State governor.
Blackburn has been a member of the U.S. House of Representatives since 2003, and she's a strong supporter of President Donald Trump and his agenda. That played well for her in a state that strongly supported Trump in the 2016 election.
But Bredesen made it a competitive race, largely because he was well-known across Tennessee from his time as governor and because his moderate views could appeal to GOP or independent voters.
Blackburn is replacing Republican Sen. Bob Corker, who did not run for re-election.
