Stacey Abrams Ends Bid For Georgia Governor

Abrams said Republican Brian Kemp will be certified as governor.

Democrat Stacey Abrams has ended her bid to be the next governor of Georgia.

It was a close race between Abrams and and Republican challenger Brian Kemp. In a speech Friday, Abrams said she would not concede, but acknowledged Kemp would be certified as governor.

There were a lot of eyes on Georgia for the midterms. Kemp is the former Secretary of State, and leading up to November, was hit with accusations that he was trying to suppress the minority vote.

Abrams' announcement means Republicans will keep control of the governor's mansion in Georgia. Kemp will replace Gov. Nathan Deal.
