Former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort pleaded not guilty to the new charges of conspiracy and money laundering from special counsel Robert Mueller's team.

Manafort appeared in federal court for his arraignment Wednesday. His associate Rick Gates pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy Feb. 23.

The charges stem from Mueller's investigation into Russia's meddling in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

Manafort and Gates were indicted in October, and both pleaded not guilty at the time.

Manafort's trial is set to start Sept. 17.
