Former U.S. Congressman Chaka Fattah of Pennsylvania has been sentenced to 10 years behind bars.

Back in June, Fattah was convicted of misspending government grants and charity money to fund his campaign and personal expenses. He was slapped with several federal corruption charges, including racketeering, bribery, money laundering and bank fraud.

In 2007, when Fattah unsuccessfully ran for mayor of Philadelphia, he took out an illegal $1 million loan to cover the expenses. After he lost, he used federal and charitable funds to help pay it back.

Fattah served 22 years in Congress before resigning after his conviction. He has been ordered to report to prison by Jan. 25.
