Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's upcoming meeting with a North Korean official has been postponed at the last minute.

The State Department announced Pompeo's change in schedule early Wednesday. It did not give any explanation for why the talks were delayed.

Pompeo was supposed to be sitting down with his North Korean counterpart Kim Yong Chol in New York on Thursday to discuss denuclearization. The two were also expected to talk about a possible second summit between President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said Wednesday that officials from both countries are still talking with each other and that the meeting will be rescheduled at a later date.
