Donald Trump Is Suing A Former Campaign Worker For $10 Million

The suit claims former Trump staffer Sam Nunberg broke a strict confidentiality agreement.

Donald Trump is suing a former campaign aide for $10 million, accusing him of leaking information in spite of a confidentiality agreement.

Sam Nunberg was fired from Trump's campaign last summer after racially charged Facebook posts surfaced from his account. Nunberg denies posting them.

The suit claims Nunberg gave the New York Post information in May about a public shouting match between two other Trump staffers: Hope Hicks, Trump's press secretary, and Corey Lewandowski, Trump's now former campaign manager.

The article hinted that Hicks and Lewandowski were having an affair. Unsubstantiated rumors of that nature had been circulating since last summer, but as a side-effect of Trump's lawsuit, it was brought to the public.

Nunberg's official legal statement denies giving the New York Post information but doesn't deny the relationship between those staffers. CNN quotes him calling it a "sordid and apparently illicit affair" that Trump is trying to "silence media coverage" of.

Nunberg also claims he's being sued for endorsing Sen. Ted Cruz's presidential run after he was fired. The ex-Trump staffer says he made no disparaging comments toward Trump and that he had every right to endorse Cruz under the First Amendment.

In his statement, Nunberg also said Trump may have illegally fed corporate money into his campaign.

Trump's side has been less public about his legal reasoning, mainly arguing Nunberg broke a strict confidentiality agreement he'd previously signed.
