Did Trump Encourage His Colorado Supporters To Vote Twice?

The Republican presidential candidate voiced his concerns about Colorado's vote-by-mail system at a rally Sunday.

Some of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's recent warnings about voter fraud might lead voters in Colorado to commit it.

"So, when you send them in do you think they're properly counted? ... You can go to University Center and they'll give you a ballot — a new ballot. They'll void your old ballot; they'll give you a new ballot. And you can go out and make sure it gets in," Trump said at a rally in Greeley, Colorado, on Sunday.

This is the first year Colorado is mailing ballots to all registered voters for a presidential election. It's an effort to make it easier to vote. People can still vote in person, but they can't do both.

Oregon and Washington are the only two other states that mail ballots to all voters.

According to the Secretary of State's office, each Coloradan's mailed ballot has a unique barcode. Once that ballot is submitted, the voter registration system is unable to accept a second ballot from that person.

Responding to Trump's concerns, a Denver election official told The Denver Post, "From my perspective, it's just a lack of understanding of all the safeguards and all the processes that we have in Colorado."

A local news outlet did dig up several cases of voter fraud in the state, but none involved voters mailing in their ballots and showing up to the polls.
