Rob Ford And (Wait For It) Deadmau5 Make A Coffee Run

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford never fails to surprise. This time, he took a coffee break with EDM producer Deadmau5.

In what may be the only shocking-yet-not-controversial thing he's ever done, the one and only Rob Ford took a coffee break with EDM producer Deadmau5. (Via Getty Images)

FORD: "Can I get five espressos in one cup?"

DEADMAU5: "What does that equate to?"

FORD: "I don't know, but it's good, trust me."

DEADMAU5: "That sounds like cardiac arrest." (Via YouTube / deadmau5)

For 30 glorious minutes, Deadmau5 and Toronto's contentious mayor discussed everything from football to potholes and of course bad drivers.

DEADMAU5: "Did you see that? This is what I have to compete with."

FORD: "I'm the first one dead on that one, man." (Via YouTube / deadmau5)

But lest you try reading any further into it — Deadmau5 includes this disclaimer in the YouTube video summary: "This is a coffee run. This does not reflect my political views, or views on anything really."

Even Canada's Maclean's blog noted there was "little objectively newsworthy" about the video — posting this pre-emptively defensive piece explaining why its reporter even watched in the first place.

But everyone's fascinated, because, you know, Rob Ford. (Via Getty Images)

"Yes, I have smoked crack cocaine. Do I? Am I an addict? No. Have I tried it? Um, probably in one of my drunken stupors." (Via The National)

For those wondering, Toronto's infamous crack cocaine-smoking, camera-crashing, drunken-stuporing mayor is still the mayor, despite earlier attempts by the Toronto City Council to remove him from office. (Via Global News)

As for Deadmau5, the coffee-run videos are a recurring bit on his YouTube channel, which feature past appearances from Grammy winner Pharrell, Skrillex and even Tom Green.
