The U.S. Supreme Court has rejected a request from Pennsylvania Republicans to block a new congressional district map drawn by the state's highest court.

According to several reports out Monday, the justices refused to hear the lawmakers' appeal and didn't give an explanation for their decision.

Back in February, lawmakers said the Pennsylvania Supreme Court overstepped its authority when putting the new map together. And they asked the U.S. Supreme Court to stop the map from going into effect.

After ruling the old map was unconstitutionally gerrymandered, the General Assembly and the governor were tasked with agreeing on a new one. When they couldn't reach a compromise, the state court issued a map of its own.
