A 1999 report could show whether Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh was involved with grand jury secret leaks while he worked on the special counsel's investigation into then-President Bill Clinton.

On Wednesday, a U.S. district judge ordered the report be unsealed and the National Archives release the redacted version no later than 3 p.m. Friday. The report is being redacted to protect the privacy of one individual who opposed its release. The court document specifically said that individual isn't Kavanaugh.

The report contains information from an appointed special master who looked into allegations that prosecutors involved with the Clinton investigation leaked grand jury protected information to the media. That report was then sealed.

CNN reports a memo filed by one Justice Department division on Tuesday says the special master didn't find any violations of grand jury secrecy.

Kavanaugh has received pushback from Democrats, who are calling for a delay in his nomination hearing until more documents related to his past are released.

The hearing is set for Sept. 4.
