President Donald Trump has apparently tapped retired Vice Admiral Robert Harward to be the next White House national security adviser.

According to several reports, Trump offered Harward the job shortly after Michael Flynn's resignation Monday. As of Wednesday afternoon, it was unclear whether Harward has accepted the offer.

Harward had a long and successful career with the Navy. He served on SEAL teams and acted as a commander in Iraq and Afghanistan.

He also served as deputy commander at the U.S. Central Command from 2011 to 2013. At the time, Gen. James Mattis led the agency. Mattis is now Trump's secretary of defense.

Harward is currently a chief executive for aerospace company Lockheed Martin in the United Arab Emirates. He also works as a contributor for ABC News.
