Vice President Mike Pence addressed thousands of anti-abortion demonstrators at the annual March for Life rally in Washington, D.C.
"Life is winning in America because of all of you," Pence said.
During his speech, Pence said ending taxpayer funding for abortions and abortion providers is a top priority for President Donald Trump.
The U.S. government does not fund Planned Parenthood's abortions except in rare cases. But Planned Parenthood also provides other services, so it's eligible for Medicaid reimbursements to cover those other services.
But he also said the Trump administration will continue to provide funding for women's health.
"I believe we will continue to win the hearts and minds of the rising generation if our hearts first break for young mothers and their unborn children," Pence said.
Pence is the highest-ranking government official to speak at March for Life, which is in its 44th year.
During his time in Congress and as governor of Indiana, Pence backed multiple anti-abortion bills. And he's introduced legislation to defund Planned Parenthood several times.
