The return date of Boeing's 737 Max airplane has been pushed back yet again.

Boeing said in a statement on Tuesday it expects the 737 Max will return to service sometime in the middle of 2020. The company said the new estimate is based on when it believes global aviation regulators "will begin to authorize the ungrounding of the 737 MAX."

Boeing said it "regret[s] the continued difficulties that the grounding of the 737 MAX has presented to [its] customers, [its] regulators, [its] suppliers, and the flying public," but that "returning the MAX safely to service is [its] number one priority."

A month ago, the company announced it was temporarily suspending production of the 737 Max. The aircraft was grounded worldwide after two deadly crashes involving that model occurred within months of each other. Investigators believe the craft's flight-control system is partially to blame for both crashes.
