CVS Pharmacy has launched a service that will deliver prescriptions right to customers' doorsteps.
CVS Health announced Tuesday that prescription delivery is now available from about 9,800 locations nationwide.
Customers can place their orders by phone or on the CVS app, and their prescriptions should arrive in a day or two. In several bigger cities like Boston and Miami, they can even get same-day delivery.
Lots of prescription delivery services have popped up in recent years. They can be a game-changer for customers who have trouble getting to their nearest pharmacy, including people in rural locations and the elderly.
But some say there's another motive behind CVS' new service — to stay a step ahead of Amazon.
There's been speculation for months that Amazon is preparing to venture into the prescription drug market. It's still unclear if and when that will happen.
