Major tech companies are banding together to fight wildlife trafficking online.
A coalition of 21 industry tech giants from around the world has pledged to try to reduce online wildlife trafficking by 80 percent by 2020.
The companies were brought together by the World Wildlife Fund and other advocacy groups. Some members from the U.S. include Facebook, Instagram, Google and Etsy.
An official at WWF says inconsistent online policies and enforcement aid traffickers by creating a "whack-a-mole effect," wherein if they get shut down on one site, they'll just pop up elsewhere.
Companies are uniting in hopes that traffickers run out of places to go.
