Multiple casualties are being reported after an explosion and building collapse in Omaha, Neb., but definite numbers are currently hard to come by.
"That explosion was at International Nutrition around 10 o'clock this morning. The fire chief there is saying that there were multiple fatalities. ... Rescue efforts have been halted because the structure is just too unstable at this time." (Via KDKA)
"They fear victims may still be trapped by the blast or by falling debris." (Via WABC)
"We do know that 10 victims were taken to the hospital. A total of 38 people were in that building when it collapsed. First responders have stopped rescue operations and say they've now turned to recovery efforts." (Via WKYT)
The Omaha World-Herald reports two are confirmed dead, and one of the injured was a firefighter.
The Omaha Police Department called the collapse an "industrial accident" but did not explain what caused it.
WOWT spoke with one of the workers' family members.
"He said the next thing he know it was a big explosion. ... He said he felt the heat on the back of him and he just kept running and running."
Officials have not released the names of any of the victims.
