U.S. stocks fell sharply Wednesday as investors worry about rising interest rates and and the trade war with China.

Wednesday marked a rough day for Wall Street

The Dow Jones Industrial Average plummeted more than 600 points, erasing all of its gains this year. The S&P 500 followed suit, plunging more than 3 percent.

But it's the Nasdaq that bore the brunt of it, falling into what Wall Street calls a "correction." It tumbled around 4 percent, which is its worst daily drop in more than seven years. It was hurt by a number of tech stocks trading lower, like Netflix, Facebook, Alphabet and Amazon.

It's been a volatile month so far for U.S. stocks. Investors have been concerned about rising interest rates and an ongoing trade war with China.

Analysts say more volatility is expected as quarterly earnings reports are released.
