At this Starbucks in Newington, Connecticut, some 450 people paid for the drink orders of the car behind them for Christmas.
"There's nothing like Christmas time to spread some Christmas cheer. And you never know, somebody could be having a horrible day, coming to get coffee, and then that little bit of something they didn't have to worry about." (Via WVIT)

And talk about an embarrassment of riches:
"A Starbucks employee says 45- dollars was left over at the end of the day, so the first several orders today will also be free." (Via NECN)
That was the plan, but get this — WVIT confirmed people are still paying it forward Thursday morning!

So if you're not paying for the order behind you at your local coffee drive-through, go ahead and get generous. You'll be in good company.
