SeaWorld Entertainment's CEO is stepping down.
The company said Tuesday Joel Manby left his position. SeaWorld's chief parks operation officer will serve as interim CEO until a permanent replacement is chosen.
Manby led SeaWorld since 2015, when he was hired to help the company deal with the backlash over its killer whales.
He made some big changes during his tenure, including putting an end to SeaWorld's orca breeding program and theatrical shows.
But despite Manby's efforts, the company has struggled to get back on its feet. In the 2017 fiscal year, attendance at SeaWorld's theme parks plummeted 5.5 percent to 20.8 million.
According to USA Today, that's the lowest it's been since at least 2010.
