In news that is bound to delight all corners of the Internet, Aubrey Plaza has reportedly signed on to voice the lead character in the Lifetime holiday special "Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever."

The feline superstar, whose real name is Tardar Sauce, signed a short-lived movie deal with Broken Road Productions last year, though that ultimately fell through. (Video via YouTube / Real Grumpy Cat)

She even took a spin on the red carpet at this year's MTV Movie Awards, so she's no stranger to the spotlight.

Plaza is best-known for her role as the less-than-enthusiastic April Ludgate on NBC's "Parks and Rec."

"My mom's Puerto Rican. That's why I'm so lively and colorful."

So she's a pretty good fit for the role. In fact Mashable calls the casting decision "Purr-fection!" While Jezebel says Plaza was "born for this role." But she apparently wasn't the first choice.

According to The Hollywood Reporter Jane Lynch was originally set to voice the character, but suddenly rebuffed the offer.

Now, if you're wondering why Plaza, who's had starring roles in indie flicks like "Safety Not Guaranteed" and "Life After Beth," would "stoop" down to doing a TV movie, the magazine notes the role comes with quote "a rather significant paycheck." It all makes sense.

In the movie, Grumpy cat forms a "unique" bond with 12-year-old Chrystal, who is the only person who can hear her talk. She also: "reluctantly thwarts the kidnapping of an expensive exotic dog she can't stand and rescues Chyrstal after the mall closes on Christmas Eve."

The movie premieres Sunday, November 29th at 8 p.m. ET.
