Bill Cosby and director Roman Polanski have been kicked out of the Academy.

The Board of Governors for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences voted Tuesday night to expel both men from the organization.

For Cosby, the decision comes just a week after he was convicted of sexual assault. But for Polanski, the decision comes decades after his legal troubles.

Polanski fled the U.S. in 1978 after pleading guilty to having sex with a minor, but he's continued to work in the movie business.

He won the Oscar for best director in 2003 for the movie "The Pianist," but he didn't attend the ceremony, as he was — and still is — a fugitive of the U.S.

Cosby was a member of the Academy, but he never won an Oscar.
