"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" doesn't come out for another month, but we already know this trilogy won't be the last of the "Star Wars" franchise.

Lucasfilm announced Thursday an all-new "Star Wars" trilogy. We don't know much about it, but the company says it will "introduce new characters from a corner of the galaxy that Star Wars lore has never before explored."

Fingers crossed it still features porgs.

Rian Johnson, the director of "The Last Jedi," will sit at the helm of the first film as writer and director. Ram Bergman is on board to produce.

Considering Lucasfilm's controversial turbulence with other directors, this could be a good sign for Johnson's relationship with the company. His work on "The Last Jedi" received praise from Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy.

Beyond the new trilogy, Lucasfilm and Disney are adding even more to the "Star Wars" universe. Chairman and CEO Bob Iger announced the companies are also working on a live-action "Star Wars" television series. That show will air exclusively on Disney's upcoming streaming service.
