A nearly 80-year-old song vividly highlights racism in America. And now, singer Rebecca Ferguson wants "Strange Fruit" to make a cameo at Donald Trump's inauguration.
The former U.K. "X Factor" contestant says she was asked to perform at the ceremony.
She wrote on Twitter that she'd perform at Trump's inauguration if she could sing "a song that speaks to all the disregarded and down trodden black people in the United States." She added that it's "a reminder of how love is the only thing that will conquer all the hatred in this world."
Trump's staffers have struggled to find performers. So far, they've booked the Radio City Rockettes, Mormon Tabernacle Choir and "America's Got Talent" runner-up Jackie Evancho.
And it looks like another reality show runner-up might take the stage if Trump agrees to her terms.
