Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman's sudden death over the weekend is leaving big questions about his upcoming projects.

A particularly big question: the "Hunger Games" series. He was set to reprise his role as Head Gamemaker in the highly successful franchise — for "Mockingjay" parts one and two.

A source tells E! that, as for part one, the acclaimed actor's production was "substantially complete" when he died. But, he still had shooting to finish on part two — so what will happen there is unclear.

It is being reported that Hoffman's death is not expected to affect the scheduled November 2014 and 2015 release dates for the movies.

The Sydney Morning Heraldhas a joint statement from "Hunger Games" author Suzanne Collins and the movies' director and producers: "Philip was a wonderful person and an exceptional talent, and our hearts are breaking."

Reported to be in "limbo" is the actor's new Showtime comedy series, "Happyish." The network released a statement of condolences only: "It was a great privilege and pleasure to work with him and we are all absolutely devastated by this sudden loss." (Via Just Jared, The Huffington Post)

Hoffman had most recently filmed "A Most Wanted Man"and "God's Pocket," both premiering in January at the Sundance Film Festival. "A Most Wanted Man" received largely rave reviews.

Of course the actor is known for roles in movies like "The Master," "Capote," "Almost Famous," and much more, easily transforming between dramatic and comedic roles.

CNNhails him as Hollywood's "everyman ... Philip Seymour Hoffman was an actor who could be anybody."
