U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents seized counterfeit coronavirus test kits at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport Tuesday.
According to a press release on Thursday, the fake tests came from the U.K. The seizure also included counterfeit tests for other diseases and infections, like meningitis and salmonella. The agency warned that Americans should be aware of the dangers of buying home-testing kits online.
A CBP official said that the seizure will give insight into smuggling trends to help intercept similar packages in the future.
The kits were turned over to the FDA.
