Research into a universal flu vaccine just got a big boost thanks to Bill Gates.
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is partnering with the CEO of Alphabet to establish a $12 million fund for research into a universal flu vaccine.
Gates made the announcement Friday at the Massachusetts Medical Society. He says the vaccine is needed to help combat possible future pandemics.
A universal vaccine might still be a few years off, but people are working on it and a new funding source can only help.
