Julie Martin was a correspondent for Morning Rush and delivered weather forecasts on Scripps News Weekend. Before joining Scripps News, Julie spent almost a decade at The Weather Channel where she traveled nationally to cover breaking news and weather stories. Prior to that, Julie was a correspondent and meteorologist for several local media stations.
Julie received her B.A. in Communications from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL. She then went on to get her Certificate of Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University.
Julie discovered her passion for journalism at a young age when her mother worked in local television. She realized her love of storytelling would make a strong fit for a career in journalism. Julie spent three years in various behind the scenes roles before moving on to local news to pursue the reporting and anchoring positions that she does today.
