Jan Hooks, a former "Saturday Night Live" cast member, died Thursday at age 57.
TMZ reportsHooks had been suffering from a serious illness, but that specific illness has not yet been announced to the public.
She was a regular cast member on "SNL"from 1986 to 1991 where she was known for impersonations for Nancy Reagan, Sinéad O'Conner and Hilary Clinton.
Hooks performed alongside Dana Carvey, Mike Myers and Phil Hartman during her tenure on the show.
Hooks left SNL for a recurring role on the sitcom "Designing Women"
And in 1998, she was nominated for an Emmy for her guest role on "3rd Rock From the Sun."
Most recently Hooks appeared on two episodes of NBC's "30 Rock."
"Bridesmaids" director Paul Feig tweeted that Hooks's death was a sad day for comedy and "Family Guy" writer Seth MacFarlene agreed saying she "stands out as one of the funniest cast members in SNL history."
