"Saturday Night Live"'s Cecily Strong will host the 2015 White House Correspondents' dinner.
STRONG VIA NBC: "Those who support the measure say it's a step forward for women in the workplace while those who oppose it can be seen Sunday nights on AMC."
Strong was announced as the 2015 host Wednesday, making her only the fourth woman to host the event since it started in 1914.
Now, the choice is a bit of a surprise.
Strong made headlines in September when it was announced she was being taken off her anchor position in SNL's news-focused "Weekend Update" skit, although she spoke out saying she was "genuinely happy" about the opportunity to do more sketches instead.
But White House Correspondents' Association President Christi Parsons said Strong's "political humor is sly and edgy."
She also said the fact that Strong's father was AP bureau chief at the Illinois statehouse gives her a political edge and might help her work a room full of journalists.
Previous comedic hosts of the the White House Correspondents' Dinner include Stephen Colbert, Jon Stewart, Wanda Sykes, Conan O'Brien ...
And of course, last year's host, Joel McHale. "I promise tonight will be both amusing and over quickly, just like Chris Christie's presidential bid."
However, the audience doesn't only look to the host for laughs at this event — the president is known to come with a few zingers of his own.
OBAMA VIA THE WHITE HOUSE: "I usually start these things with a few self-deprecating jokes. After my stellar 2013, what could I possibly talk about?"
The event will be held April 25. Proceeds from the dinner fund scholarships for aspiring journalists.
