Even President Obama Can't Compete With Beyonce

When President Obama surprised a charter school with a visit Thursday, one student told him she had been hoping to see someone else.

So we watched some of the morning shows Friday and were dying laughing when we saw this — a sixth-grader named Madison's reaction when President Obama and the first lady made a surprise visit to her school:

MADISON VIA CBS: "I really wanted it to be Beyonce."

OBAMA: "I understand. Malia and Sasha would feel the same way."

The president was there for a 9/11 service project at the charter school in D.C., helping stuff book bags with supplies for the homeless. (Video via ABC)

But this isn't actually the "little girl would rather have seen Beyonce" story the first part of that CBS video would suggest.

NBC actually played out the rest of the video, and little Madison redeemed herself:

MADISON: "Then I realized it was going to be you. That's even better."

OBAMA: "Aww! I appreciate you saying that in front of the press. I know it's not really true, but that's OK."

We wouldn't blame Madison, though — 2014 has been the year of Queen Bey with the star topping almost every list of America's best-loved celebrities.

And the Obamas clearly relate to the sentiment.

After all, Beyonce worked with the first lady on her "Let's Move" campaign.

And, you know, sang at the president's last inauguration. (Video via The New York Times)
