President Donald Trump hit hard on Iran during his speech at the U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday.

"They do not respect their neighbors or borders," Trump said.

He used phrases like "brutal regime" and "corrupt dictatorship" to describe the Iranian government.

His statements don't really come as a surprise, since Trump and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani aren't exactly friendly.

Back in May, Trump pulled the U.S. out of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal. And Washington has been gradually reimposing sanctions on the country.

In November, sanctions on Iran's oil industry and banks snap back into place, but the EU has pushed back, saying it'll protect businesses trying to trade oil with Iran.

During his speech on Tuesday, President Trump said the U.S. is working with companies that purchase Iranian crude oil to cut their purchases substantially.
