Voters in Montana have re-elected Democratic Sen. Jon Tester. He defeated Republican candidate Matt Rosendale.
The win comes after a close race and a visit from the president a few days before the election to try to boost enthusiasm among Republicans.
Not only was the race close, but it was also expensive. Tester raised nearly $16 million between January 2017 and mid-October, according to FEC records. Rosendale reported raisingabout $4.5 million. Records show out-of-state donors contributed more than 70 percent to each candidate's campaign.
Tester was first elected in 2006. This will be his third term serving in office.
