A former campaign aide for Donald Trump will be sentenced in federal court in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 7.
It's part of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian meddling in the presidential election.
George Papadopoulos — a foreign policy adviser for the campaign — pleaded guilty last year to lying to the FBI about his contacts with pro-Russia sources.
According to court documents, Papadopoulos was told by a foreign professor with connections to the Russian government about thousands of incriminating emails on then presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
Papadopoulos will be the second person sentenced in Mueller's investigation. In April, Dutch lawyer Alex van der Zwaan was sentenced to 30 days in prison and fined $20,000 for lying to federal agents about his conversations with former Trump campaign aide Rick Gates.
