President Donald Trump approved a massive $1.3 trillion spending bill, despite an earlier threat to reject it.

Trump signed the bill Friday afternoon, just hours after he said on Twitter he was "considering a veto" on the legislation.

"But I say to Congress I will never sign another bill like this again — never again," Trump said.

According to Politico, Trump's tweet took many on Capitol Hill by surprise, even some of his closest advisers.

The bill made it through both chambers of Congress after some lengthy negotiations. Trump's signature prevents a government shutdown from beginning on Saturday.
