We’re excited to announce the launch of a universal app for both the iPhone and iPad. It’s the latest update for Newsy’s award-winning mobile apps.

Universal app means one app for both devices — available as a single download as an update to our popular iPhone app.

Newsy’s goal is to deliver the news you need to know wherever you are … offering context with convenience.

The app takes advantage of the striking aesthetics of iOS 7, with an entirely new interface and more reliable performance.

Let me highlight the features that make it easy for you to discover, consume and comprehend news stories in a whole new way.

The new menu layout contains navigation for specific categories, including a new ‘Top Stories’ category with hand-selected stories from our editorial team.

We’ve added the ability to subscribe to push notifications about specific news categories to get the stories that matter the most to you.

Enabled by iOS 7, background downloading ensures the stories you see when you open the app are the most up-to-date news — there’s no waiting for the app to refresh.

The app preserves the watch offline and play queue features of the previous version, but presents them in a more intuitive interface. Or, with autoplay, sit back and enjoy an entire newscast curated for you!

You can find this update in the Apple App Store. If you are using the current Newsy iPad app, you’ll soon receive in-app instructions for updating to the newest version.
