NYC Group Allows Drug Users To Safely Inject In Bathrooms

A New York City organization has a nearly one-of-a kind approach to keeping drug overdoses at bay.

The Washington Heights Corner Project's goal is to save lives.

While they would like drug abusers to eventually get clean, it's not their primary focus. Instead, they are taking a new approach to drug use and allowing people to use their bathrooms to safely use drugs. Visitors get a set time limit and are checked on every five minutes to make sure they are still alive. Most drug users in this area of New York City typically use the same batch of heroin. The Corner Project hopes if it's a "bad batch" and people are overdosing, using at their facilities will at least give them a chance to bring them back.
