Samsung might be betting big on bitcoin. The company announced plans to increase production of certain computer chips that help sort digital currencies.

Those chips help computers "mine" through and solve difficult math problems, which eventually yields bitcoins.

It's no surprise Samsung wants in on the game. Cryptocurrencies, especially bitcoin, have boomed in recent months. As of Thursday morning, one bitcoin was worth just over $9,000.

CNN reportedly asked Samsung whom the company is creating these chips for. The company declined to say.
