Miami police said Thursday they are looking into a possible assault case involving San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and two other NFL players.
Although no charges have been filed, the unnamed woman in the report says she met up with Kaepernick, his teammate Quinton Patton and Seattle Seahawks player Ricardo Lockette at the ICON Viceroy Hotel April 1. (Via ESPN, SB Nation, WEBN.tv)
The incident report then says, "They talked for a while and then she mixed some drinks for all of them and gave them shots. [The unnamed woman] advised that they told her that in order to drink the shots she had to 'hit' the bong which contained marijuana." (Via USA Today / Miami Police Department)
The woman claims she got lightheaded and went to the bedroom to lie down. Kaepernick reportedly entered the bedroom, the two made out, then he left the bedroom. The woman told Miami police she had a previous sexual relationship with the 49ers QB but they didn't have sex that night. (Via Travel Channel, The Wall Street Journal)
The tail-end of the report says Lockette and Patton peeked inside the room while she was naked in bed, then they closed the door when she told them to get out. Then, she woke up in a hospital with no idea how she got there or what happened after Lockette and Patton closed the door.
According to the San Jose Mercury News, the Miami Police Department's public information officer said "There's no evidence of a crime or a sexual assault. This report is simply an incident report taken at the woman's request."
But TMZ, who is credited with breaking the story, says the incident was referred to the Special Victims Office within the police department, which handles sexual assault cases.
And a picture posted to Kaepernick's Instagram account does place him and Patton in Miami around the time of the incident, but again there's currently no evidence of a crime or any type of sexual assault.
The 49ers general manager released a statement Thursday saying the team is "in the process of gathering the pertinent facts.”
