The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports medics from both schools immediately began performing CPR on the fallen photographer before he was put on a stretcher and taken to a nearby hospital.
But it was too late. Martin died about an hour after his collapse. He was 59 years old.
WTVD says Martin suffered "an apparent heart attack" while taking photos of A&M players and staff celebrating their big win.

But Martin, who was based out of Montgomery, Alabama, didn't just cover sporting events.
His most notable photos are shots from Hurricane Katrina and the Gulf oil spill. He also traveled around the world to capture scenes from the Olympics, political conventions and conflicts. (Via WJBK)
Martin leaves behind his wife, Jamie, and their two children.
