Men's Health Mag Publishes Misogynistic Article And Tweet

Men's Health magazine is dealing with a PR disaster after publishing an article titled "The Secret to Talking Sports With Any Woman."
Posted

Some women legitimately don't like sports, but shockingly, there are many others who do. Now that we're all on the same page, here's an entire publication that's having trouble with that concept.

Monday, Men's Health magazine tweeted: "She sees the game differently than you. Here's how, and what to do about it." And if you continue down the yellow brick road, it leads you to a Men's Health story entitled, "The Secret to Talking Sports With Any Woman." That's right, any woman.

The brilliant piece that explains the art of speaking to women about sports features insights such as "Most women don't care about stats" and says women need storylines to get into sports.

But for every completely tone-deaf thing a media outlet puts on the Internet, Twitter is there to provide the aggressively appropriate response.

According to the Los Angeles Times, over the course of two hours after the tweet was published, Men's Health received more than 4,800 mentions, mostly from outraged readers.

From here this story takes a familiar turn: Men's Health took down the article Monday and published an apology on Twitter.

"Apologies for our 'talk sports with her' story. It missed the mark and the negative feedback is justified. We've deleted it. It wasn't meant to suggest that women are in any way inferior to men, in sports, or anything else. But … we're sorry that it did."
