The NFL has reportedly fined Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch $50,000 for not talking to the media during most of the season.
ESPN reports Lynch didn't talk to the media at all during the entire regular season. Lynch finally spoke to reporters Friday in a surprise news conference which was apparently too little too late.
ESPN adds it's one of the highest fines given out to an NFL player during the 2013 season.
Though talking or not talking to the media might seem like the player's decision to make, it isn't. The NFL requires all players to speak to the media throughout the season.
NBC Sports reports future fines could be even higher for Lynch if he chooses not to talk to the media during the post-season — especially as the NFC's leading team makes its way through the NFL playoffs.
But, either way, the fine appears to be a firm slap on the wrist for Lynch who's reportedly making a $7 million salary this season. (Via Bleacher Report)
Lynch is in his seventh season in the NFL — playing for the Seahawks since 2010. So far this season, Lynch has scored 12 touchdowns and rushed more than 1,200 yards in one of Seattle's best seasons in franchise history.
Lynch and the Seahawks will take on the New Orleans Saints at home next Saturday in the second round of the NFL playoffs.
