President of the United States ... commander in chief ... and now a big Michigan State fan.
March Madness is here, and it's captivating nearly everyone — including President Obama.
For the sixth straight year, Obama filled out his NCAA Tournament bracket on ESPN. So, who's he rooting for to win it all? (Via ESPN)
"I've got Michigan State going all the way. It's been a while since there's been a 1-1. ... My pick. Michigan State. Bring it home for me. It's been a while since I've won my pool."
In addition to fourth-seeded MSU cutting down the nets, Obama selected one seeds Florida and Arizona and four seed Louisville in the Final Four. He matched Michigan State and Louisville in the championship game.
But, like Obama said, he's not exactly the best at correctly picking the March Madness winners.
He did all right last year, correctly picking five of the actual Elite Eight teams and selecting last year's champ Louisville to go to the championship game — though he picked Indiana to win it all.
Then, two years back, in 2012, not bad with six of eight Elite Eight teams, and two of the Final Four teams isn't shabby, either. But again Obama failed to pick the winner — picking North Carolina instead of Kentucky. (Via The White House / ESPN)
In fact, Rolling Stone points out Obama has only nailed the national championship winner once, that being North Carolina in 2009.
So, let's just say he doesn't have great odds of achieving the perfect bracket.
But ESPN asked, if he did get that perfect bracket and he did win Warren Buffett's billion-dollar perfect-bracket challenge, he might use some of that money to pay down the national debt ... and possibly get Michelle a new pair of shoes. (Via New York Post, The White House / Pete Souza)
